On the mid night of September 6th & 7th 1974, extra ordinary military movement was observed. Military officials took the positions on all important installations. Next day was extremely important in the history of Pakistan. This massive movement was in anticipation of expected law & order situation in the result of a resolution which had to be passed by Pakistan national assembly on September 7th 1974.
On 7th September 1974 Ahmadies, Qadianies & Lahori group were declared non Muslim constitutionally through unanimous resolution which was initiated by Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani & supported by 28 others members.
This resolution was passed after a comprehensive debate. Which took two months. In these two months in 28 assembly session’s with 96 intervals, whole ideological issue of Ahmadiat was discussed in detail. Jamaat-e- Ahmadia leader Mr. Mirza Nasir was also appeared in national assembly continuously for 11 days to defend his case.
The QA session with him took 41 hours & 50 minutes. The proceedings with Lahori Jamaat took 2 days & 11 hours & 20 minutes.
As per Govt. & opposition decision the QA session with Mirza Nasir & Lahori group was lead by attorney general Mr. Yahya Bikhtiar. Mr. Yahya played his role extremely well & through cross questioning exposed the real beliefs of Ahmadies.
On the floor both groups (Ahamdies as well as Lahories) admitted that according to their beliefs those who didn’t accept Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani as prophet (Naooz u billah) would be consider as non Muslims. It means that the whole assembly were non Muslims & they (Ahamdies as well as Lahories) alone were Muslims. (LOL).
After this BLAST by Ahmadi leader, there was no room to not declare Ahmadies as Non Muslim but simultaneously it was enforced that they must be protected by law & should have all legal rights to enjoy their lives as minority.
The role of Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was also very courageous. He faced tremendous internal & external pressure. But he followed the first basic principle of his party i.e. Islam is our religion.
In my understanding, it was the most important day after the day when Pakistan was formed & the day when objective resolution was passed. It was 90 year old problem which was solved through a democratic process. Muslims of Pakistan faced a severe implications in 1953 & 1974 when they struggled against Ahmadies’ so called stance of being Muslims.
Today we want to pray for all those who took part in this struggle & made it possible through great sacrifices. May Allah honor them with big rewards on both worlds. (Aameen)
